Structural Efficiency
In this project we worked in a team of three or two to design and had to construct an efficient structural frame (using playing cards and masking tape) to support a maximum design load of five pounds. Any structure that did not meet the design criteria or that failed at a load of less than five pounds was disqualified from the competition.
competition results: our results weren't that bad because our structure was able to support the five pound load and i think it wasn't that bad. but compared to the rest of the class it was bad because other structures were able to support more loads. but overall i think we did a good job.
Structural Efficiency Rating calculation: weight of structure = 32grams, load supported by our structure= 2900grams, structural efficiency rating = 2900g/32g = 90.625.
Conclusion: In conclusion i think that we could have done better if we had created a better structure which included more round pillars to support the weight also anything that could help put all the weight to the bottom of the structure instead of the top or the walls. But i think that overall we did a god job.

Keystone Library - Commercial Roof
In this activity we had to do research and pick the best low slope roof and best green roof for our library we then selected a low slope roof and green roof treatment for the upper roof of the Keystone project.
Research
Single Ply roofing. Single Ply roofing systems are just that, a single ply of a roofing material made from several types of polymer plastics and rubbers. Intensive Green RoofIntensive Green Roofs. Walkways, benches, playgrounds or even ponds can be established as additional features on the roof. There are no limitations in design and individuality, but a few things have to be considered. My low slope roof and green roof. |
Reflection:
1.)What i learned is the different types of green roofs and low slope roofs that are used in buildings.
2.)What i liked was it was challenging.
3.)What i disliked was it was too much work.
4.)What i would do differently is shorten the work and make it shorter maybe remove some if the work.

Keystone Library - Commercial wall
In this activity we had to choose a wall to close the second level of the Keystone Library. The wall had to fit in and look nice with the rest of library. I added a glass wall that way it will help lessen the electric bill because during the day we can use the normal sunlight. Also it looks nice also it costs less.
Reflection:
1.) What i learned from this activity is the type of walls you can use to according to the price and how efficient they are.
2.) What i liked was having the choice to choose your own wall.
3.) I didn't dislike anything about this activity.
4.) The only thing i would do differently for this activity is to have more wall choices than there was but overall this was a fun project.

Activity 2.3.9 Residential Plumbing
In this activity we planed the water supply and wastewater disposal system for our Affordable Housing Project and created a plumbing plan to document our design. we added pipes that bring water to the house and a heater that distributes hot water thorough the house.
Reflection:
1.) What i learned is how cold water and hot water are distributed through a house.
2.)I liked this because it was a fun project.
3.)I didn't dislike anything it was fun.
4.) I wouldn't do anything differently. The project is okay.

Activity 2.3.5 Residential Electrical Systems
In this activity we will use the research we gain, we will layout the electrical system to our Affordable Housing Project. i added windows more to the south and i also added a electrical meter and a electrical panel to house, i also added light fixtures to the house.
Reflection:
1.)What i learned from from this activity was how the electrical structure in a building is laid out and the codes you have to follow for a perfect electrical layout plan.
2.)What i liked was getting to chose where you add, the electrical meter, the electrical panel, and light bulbs and switches.
3.) What i disliked was having to include codes for a perfect layout of electrical plan.
4.)This was a good project and there`s nothing i would do differently.

Activity 2.3.7 - Residential Site Planning
In this activity we planed the site and completed the site plan for a home located in Indiana . we were given specific weather data and a pre-development site plan to help us as we plan. we also made changes to our house and added it to Indiana map.
Reflection:
1.) what i learned from this is all the components that are added to a house when its built such as water and waste pipes that lead to the house.
2.)what i liked was having the choice to put the waste and water pipes leading to your house anywhere you wanted.
3.)i didn't dislike anything about this project
4.)lastly i would do anything differently about this project its good the way it is.

Affordable House Drawing
In the affordable house project we got with a partner and had to listen to the other partner and build a house that fits your partners expectations. we followed all the steps of making a house all the way from rough sketches to drawing on the computer using a program called Revit.
Reflection:
1.) What i learned from this project was the process of making a house. also the regulations that are required before a house is built or even after the house is built.
2.)What i liked was getting to work with Revit and having freedom to build a house that you wanted to build
3.)I dislikes all the equations we had to work with.
4.)What i what do differently is have a plan on when things should be done so its easier to stay on track, but overall i liked the project.
